Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Pilot Plant Operator in Collegeville, PA!

About this role

The Dow Coating Materials Process R&D organization is responsible for the synthesis, scale-up, process development, and plant support for products across the Acrylic Emulsion Network. 

In this role, you will utilize process knowledge and operations experience to safely and proficiently operate a pilot-scale reactor for process development, scale-up, and plant support of emulsion polymers. You will also be tasked with supporting the facility, including (but not limited to) performing other unit operations, completing preventative maintenance tasks, setting up experimental apparatuses, and executing scientific studies.

You will use your prior related experience to be effective in this role. You will possess a safety-first mindset and a high ethical standard to communicate your experimental findings to internal stakeholders. It is required to have some level of technical and equipment skills to follow the established and approved work processes. You will work with other team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events and escalate issues that cannot be resolved.

Responsibilities

  • Follows operating discipline principles, procedures, standards, and practices to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the pilot-scale reactor assembly

  • Monitors hazards and process conditions, key performance metrics, and control system interfaces during experimentation and makes appropriate decisions to escalate unplanned events

  • Maintains autonomous ownership of the equipment and performs scheduled operational and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure safe and reliable operations

  • Provides detailed summary and feedback of experiments to internal stakeholders and manages documentation and data with integrity

  • Handles hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, waste disposal, inventory, and follows good housekeeping practices

  • Supports the facility as needed by performing other unit operations, designing and constructing equipment, cleaning equipment, and coordinating maintenance activities

  • Identifies improvement opportunities proactively and implements solutions while following the appropriate management of change process

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old or older.

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or other GED equivalent required

  • At least 3 years of experience in process operations, manufacturing or other related industry

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Process Technology or related field preferred
