Summary
This role coordinates shipments according to customer instructions (SOP’s), and ensures compliance to DOT regulations and established internal policies and guidelines. Will also be responsible for providing solutions in resolving transportation issues and inquiries.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute ocean marine drayage services for FCL movements – through the orders received from US Branches via the TMS.
- Ensure that delivery and pick up services are completed on time and in full without any exceptions.
- Select and dispatch pick-up and delivery orders to truckers that are part of the pre-confirmed MCT database.
- Manage chassis pool operations with each provider where practical to ensure maximum profitability.
- Review, record, and develop solutions for repetitive service failures.
- Streamline proactive container tracking communications related to any potential bottlenecks with the respective customer management team.
- To know and understand all FCL transport moves needs by region for customer base both import and export.
- To prioritize time sensitive cargo, and effectively monitor all daily pick-ups and deliveries to ensure these are tendered to a carrier as needed.
- To negotiate pricing as needed to maximize profits taking advantage of one-way opportunities. .
- The Specialist will ensure proper reporting; carrier invoicing and system event updates are conducted timely and accurately raising any issues outside of their immediate control that need to be addressed
- Support the maintenance of the trucking carrier database with respect to providers, rates, expiration dates
- To ensure compliance with DOT regulations and established internal policies and guidelines.
- Any other duties that may be assigned accordingly
Educational background / Work experience
.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in Logistics and customer service environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Good understanding of ocean export/import operations and transload operations
- Essential - Experience in trucking carrier deliveries/recovery process and terminal port/CY requirements
- Maintain composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Email and Telephone etiquette
- Ability to troubleshoot day-to-day issues that may arise during pick-up or delivery process
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Language skills
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
Computer Literacy
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
