Job Title: Senior Ocean Engineer - 992639 Location: Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Florida Work Type: Full Time with Full Benefits Job Category: Exempt Hiring Range: $85,000.00 - $100,00.00 Pay Basis:

Annually

Subject to Grant Funding?: Yes   Essential Job Functions: 1. Oversees the maintenance, operation and pre-deployment configuration of all equipment in the Physical Oceanography department's inventory, including but not limited to:
a. Teledyne RDI ADCP current meters
b. Rutter, Inc. WaMos II X band radar wave and current measuring system
c. SeaBird Electronics Inc. CTDs and Data Loggers
d. Webb Research Teledyne SLOCUM G3 Autonomous gliders
e. Geometric 824 Cesium magnetometers
f. Teledyne Benthos acoustic releases
g. Campbell scientific data loggers

2. Assists in sourcing and purchasing equipment.

3. Participates in and provides regular support during regular offshore day trips to deploy and recover subsurface moorings using vessels of opportunity.

4. Provides support at other out-of-state experimental locations.

5. Works with graduate students and helps train them in the operation, maintenance, and data retrieval techniques.
Marginal Job Functions: Schedules meetings for various groups. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Ability to handle small craft in open water.

2. Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

3. Database and data entry skills.

4. Ability to utilize or learn to utilize software relevant to the research program, new research methods and, work routines quickly.

5. Ability to attain required certification for applicable research program or project.

6. Ability to read and comprehend reports and other scientific literature.
Job Requirements:   Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Slocum Glider Pilot Training
2. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) issued Florida Boating Safety Education Identification Card (only required for boat operators who were born on or after January 1, 1988 as per State of Florida Law).
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree or Higher Major (if required):   Required Experience: Five (5) to fifteen (15) years of related experience in Ocean Engineering.
