The Network Engineer IV will be responsible for the evaluation, design, development, testing, implementation, support, maintenance, and documentation of the network infrastructure and IT environment to ensure overall network and system availability. The Network Engineer IV may also have some leadership and mentoring responsibilities. The ideal candidate needs to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. He/she also needs to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
- Design and implementation of WAN network over Lease lines, MPLS, VPN IPSec, GRE and DMVPN network
- Designs, implements, administers, and troubleshoots network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers
- Identifies areas in which to improve, build redundancy into the existing Infrastructure with focus on simplicity and operational efficiency
- Schedules and performs maintenance including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning of production network
- Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining, and monitoring access
- Protects data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures
- Support LAN, WAN, network segments, intranet, and internet systems
- Document all aspects of Network infrastructure and maintain Knowledgebase and SOPs from which to address various issues/projects and requests
- Performs disaster recovery operations and data backups when required
- Participates in ad hoc projects, client engagements, and tasks as requested by management
- On-call support
What you will need to Succeed:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Network Engineer configuring, supporting, and maintaining routing and switching devices, enterprise Wi-Fi, VPN, controllers, and network firewalls in a multi-vendor (Cisco/Palo Alto/Aruba) environment
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM)
- AS/BS in Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering, may be coupled with certifications to include CCNA, CCNP or ACMA; or 7+ years of mid-level and/or enterprise experience as a Network Engineer in a highly dynamic environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area and Wide Area Networking and all components Maintain a thorough understanding of networking protocol: TCP, UDP, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP, IPSec VPN, DMVPN, Frame Relay, and MPLS Experience with 802.1x
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting routing and switching protocols (BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, RSVP-TE, VRRP)
- Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with hands-on experience with networking hardware
- Working knowledge of physical infrastructure design including structured cabling and fiber-optic cabling
- Excellent judgement and analytical skills, ability to prioritize tasks based on fluctuating needs
- Comfortable with medium to large, complex project scopes and ambiguous details within work environment
- Professional experience with IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) and IT ticketing system
- Background in datacenter network implementations and support is a plus
- Working knowledge of data center power and cooling infrastructure and critical facility operational best practices
- Capable of working nights, weekends and holidays, as necessary
- Some travel is required
