And we're looking for a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to help develop the next generation of aircraft seating.

This is an onsite position in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

What you will do:

  • Work with external airline customers and world class industrial design firms; Often serve as the primary technical point of contact for the customer.
  • Develop schedules/plans that govern engineering development and delivery of aircraft seating products.  Support the engineering team in the execution and adherence to the schedule.
  • Use Product Lifecycle management and 3D CAD software to design/develop aircraft seats to meet customer and OEM requirements
  • Create new seating designs based on proven products and generate modifications to existing designs to satisfy new customer driven requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineering team members to generate details, assembly drawings, models, bills of materials (BOM), and all associated production and development procedures/reports.
  • Support aircraft seating programs through the entire lifecycle; including, but not limited to: direct building of prototypes and development hardware in a lab setting, working within a cross-functional engineering team to perform and/or verify engineering testing; complete all relevant documentation for procurement, fabrication, and testing as well as supporting the production line with manufacturing problems and sustaining business.
  • May be called upon to perform design engineer duties including creation, modification and release of design drawings using CAD software (Unigraphics NX, Solidworks, Pro-E and Catia), validating design content, and verifying structural acceptability of designs.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position. The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
  • Experience working with CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, Pro-E, and/or Catia required.
  • Experience with full product life cycle development using 3D modeling in a production environment.
     

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products.
  • Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Familiarity with FAA requirements.
  • Project leadership experience on technical development programs.
  • Experience designing parts made from various manufacturing methods including machined metals, sheet metal, thermoformed plastics, injection molde
