Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer – Structural Focus to work remotely within the United States.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Sedron Technologies designs, manufactures, installs, and operates advanced water and waste upcycling technologies. With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron Technologies works with municipal, agricultural, and industrial customers to process their "waste" into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Structural Focus provides advanced engineering expertise to ensure the design, reliability, and long-term integrity of welded structures and mechanical systems across Sedron’s facilities and projects. This role blends mechanical and structural engineering fundamentals with deep knowledge of welding design, fabrication, and inspection practices to support capital projects, asset integrity programs, and operational troubleshooting.

Approximately half of this role’s time will be spent acting as a subject matter expert (SME) — assisting engineers across disciplines with complex structural reviews, design, and advanced analysis. The remaining half will involve owning complex projects from concept through completion — leading the design that meet performance, safety, and cost objectives.

Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:

  • Lead and review the design, analysis, and evaluation of welded structures and mechanical systems
  • Apply Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other modeling techniques to evaluate design performance under static, thermal, and dynamic loads
Serve as a structural analysis subject matter expert and technical advisor to engineering teams.
  • Assesses degradation mechanisms such as corrosion, fatigue, creep, or cracking to prevent catastrophic failures.
  • Perform advanced calculations and structural analyses to support new designs, retrofits, or modifications
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and internal specifications (e.g., ASME, API, AWS)
  • Assess the condition and performance of existing mechanical/structural assets through inspections, analysis, and data review
  • Develop and implement strategies to address degradation, ensure continued fitness-for-service, and extend asset life
  • Support the development of structural repair/retrofit recommendations
  • Lead technical reviews and risk assessments for structural modifications or new installations
  • Support cross-functional teams by clearly communicating engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams of technicians, engineers, and operators
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving drive, bringing energy and excitement to technically challenging work
  • Maintain reliable attendance, arriving on time and ready to contribute
  • Take ownership of additional duties as needed to support Company goals
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

This position has multiple levels of competency to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.

  • Proven experience designing and evaluating structural components in an industrial, manufacturing, or energy environment
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD, RISA, SAP2000, or similar) and mechanical design tools
  • Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (ASME, AISC, API, ASCE)
