Job Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer will develop, administer and verify compliance to the business Quality Management System. They will be directly responsible for providing the technical support for the investigation, development, implementation, and maintenance of basic quality systems, procedures, methods, action plans, quality costs, and quality performance reporting by reviewing customer requirements and developing quality plans to ensure the requirements are met. They will provide specialist Quality System knowledge to ensure that the business delivers Program & Value Stream goals in compliance with customer, 3rd party and regulatory requirements. They will resolve quality problems and implement corrective action.
Job Responsibilities
• Creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Program Quality Plans
• Develops quality procedures and inspection plans by reviewing existing systems, blueprints, customer specifications and MIL-SPECS. Determines gauging and test equipment requirements. Communicates with engineering and manufacturing personnel to gain their input during the development of new quality procedures and inspection plans.
• Resolves quality problems and implements corrective action by gathering and analyzing quality data, determining root causes and corrective actions. Monitors corrective action implementation for effectiveness.
• Develops and reviews quality performance targets relative to operation & data analysis. Interfaces with customers and suppliers on quality issues
• Ownership & Continuous Improvement of the business Quality Management System
• Verification of compliance to business Quality Management System via various audit methodologies
• Coordination and administration of records retention processes.
• Perform supplier audits & assessments.
• Resolve issues pertaining to vendor schedule and/or quality including.
• Lead root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
• Creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Program Quality Plans. Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
• continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives
• Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in technical fields such as Engineering, Material Sciences, etc., or in lieu of degree 7+ years of quality engineering experience
• 6+ years of quality engineering experience
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.
Additional Qualifications:
• U.S. Person preferred
• ASQC certification preferred
• Knowledge of practical problem solving/8D and other root cause tools.
• Knowledge or training in the following areas required: material properties, design, manufacturing processes, test methods and mathematics (including statistics).
• Manufacturing standards, process control techniques, developmental test equipment including SPC, gauging and instrumentation required.
• Aerostructures (metallic and/or composites) experience preferred.
• Relentless and results driven performer with a Continuous Improvement mind-set.
• Certified auditor preferred
