What you will do:


The Sourcing Manager will drive the development of raw materials sourcing in India that meets stringent aerospace standards of quality and regulatory compliance

This role focuses on building a robust backward integration, cost-effective, compliant supply base with strong emphasis on localization, supplier development and long-term partnerships.

The Sourcing Manager will partner closely with global commodity managers, engineering, quality, and supplier teams to ensure the integration of raw material mills, distributors and Tier-1 machining suppliers with full alignment to aerospace quality standards

Key Responsibilities:


1. Raw material sourcing strategy;

Develop and execute a roadmap for local sourcing of aerospace grade raw materials (steel and its alloys, nickel alloys and titanium)

Establish long term partnerships with key raw material mills, distributors and associated tier-1 Machining / casting/ forging suppliers aligned with global sourcing strategies

Support RFQ and supplier selection by assessing capability, certification status, and technical readiness

2. Supplier Development & Readiness;

Identify, evaluate and onboard raw material mills to meet global standards & requirements

Conduct supplier capability and gap assessments focusing on AS9100 compliance, special process control (NADCAP) to meet global requirements

Collaborate with supplier teams for readiness to qualifications – scope definition, chemical / mechanical/ metallurgical testing, special process , and develop robust project plans

3. Cross-functional Collaboration;

Act as the single point of coordination between supplier and internal stakeholders through the development and its sustenance

Partner with global commodity, quality and engineering functions - material grade approvals, supplier qualifications & sourcing strategy execution

4. Risk, and Compliance Management

Validate supplier’s RM qualification readiness and ensure documentation meets customer specific requirements, export controlled, traceability and regulatory expectations

5. Reporting & Performance Management;

Track and report raw material development progress using program dashboards (milestone adherence, supplier readiness, risk closure rates).

Present weekly and monthly status updates to local & global leadership and commodity teams.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Metallurgy / Materials  Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 15 years of experience in metallic material sourcing, Technical / Quality supplier development,
  • Proven track record of development of raw materials – audits, qualification and project execution
  • Strong understanding of materials development processes —  metallurgy, machining, special processes, and testing.
  • Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools (MS Project, Excel).

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or Lean
