We are seeking a motivated Software Section Leader to join the Huntsville Software Team within the Air and Missile Defense Software Department. As a Section Leader, you will be responsible for the oversight of software personnel to meet program needs. The ideal candidate is a well-disciplined individual with a proven applicable technical background, who is able to thrive in a dynamic agile environment and is able to work well in a team setting.
This is an onsite role based in Huntsville, AL.
What You Will Do
- Ensure that each employee has suitable work assignments and opportunities for growth and advancement
- Contribute to the technical oversight of employees in support of their daily work assignments

- Ensuring the adherence to company policies and the communication of company and program information
- Responsible for supporting a major program task where you will support one or more phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - requirements, design, development (using C and C++), test, validation, and maintenance.
- Exhibit leadership behaviors and practices and serve (part-time or full-time) in program leadership roles
- Travel and off-hours testing (2nd or 3rd shift) may occasionally be required.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Experience in a Lead position or Project Management
- Experience in leading a team (e.g., estimating effort, decomposing tasks, tracking and reporting progress).
- Experience in developing complex systems and applications using an object-oriented (OO) programming language (in particular, C++).
- Experience in a Unix/Linux operating system.
- Experience with data structures, software design principles, and developing algorithms.
- Experience in embedded systems, real-time systems, or large-scale applications.
- Experience with multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Shell Scripting (tcsh, csh, bash), software development tools like Git/ClearCase, and software debuggers
- Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.).
- The ability to obtain and maintain an interim secret U.S. security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

- Active Secret security clearance.
- Functional management experience (Managing performance, conducting reviews, mentoring, supporting staff, hiring, etc.).
