About the team

The CIAM Platform team is building the next generation of Zillow’s Customer Identity and Access Management platform. With a focus on security, delightful user and developer experiences, and enhanced capabilities, we build the platform which provides authentication and authorization for the world’s most visited real estate site.

About the role

As the Sr. Manager, CIAM Platform you will enable teams across Zillow to implement secure authentication and authorization capabilities quickly, easily and simply. You will accomplish this through continuing the migration of legacy systems to our new OAuth-based platform and through extending the capabilities and security of our platform. 

We are a foundational platform for Zillow and are a key enabler and dependency for nearly all of Zillow’s initiatives and growth plans. The impact of this team is felt across all of Zillow with an incredible impact on our users experience and the protection of their sensitive data. 

You Will Get To: 

  • Lead a team of 6-8 Software Engineers with strong software development backgrounds.

  • Partner with the CIAM Enablement team and other teams across the company to build the next generation of identity, authentication, and authorization capabilities for Zillow.

  • Collaborate with engineering leaders, product managers, and program managers in multi-functional teams.

  • Be accountable for delivering a high-quality, secure, and robust identity provider.

  • Combine people and project management skills to lead a successful team through multiple highly visible and complex projects simultaneously.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $197,100.00 - $314,900.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • 6+ years of software development experience as an individual contributor or team lead.

  • 4+ years in a management or tech leadership role.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a preference for a Computer Science degree.

  • Experience building technical platforms for an engineering user base.

  • Experience partnering with developers, product managers, engineering leaders and cross-functional partners.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience mentoring and growing successful engineering teams.

  • Experience driving the technical strategy of your team.

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the identity and access management domain typically gained through implementing or supporting an IdP for a large user base.

  • Understanding of how the responsibilities of a platform are unique and experience delivering against those expectations.

  • Deep understanding of secure development practices and the security implications for an authentication and authorization platform.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing senior engineer heavy engineering teams at a medium to large company.

  • Knowledge of authentication standards including OAuth, SAML 2.0, OIDC (OpenID Connect), FIDO2, etc.

  • Experience with Okta CIC and/or other authentication or authorization commercial offerings such as Auth0, SailPoint, Ping Identity, LoginRadius, etc. 

  • Knowledge of security standards and secure engineering practices.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience migrating a large company to OAuth and a new Identity Provider

  • Experience with NIST security guidelines as it relates to identity or access management

  • Experience in the financial services industry

  • Experience with a user base of over 10M accounts
