Job Summary

The Senior RF Engineering Manager will be responsible for cluster & market optimization, acceptance, and launch of a new 5G SA CBRS data network. They will also provide expertise and oversight to post launch network performance & optimization. The ideal candidate will be a wireless subject matter expert, would have previously optimized and launched wireless networks, and have vast experience creating and automating workflows, reports, audits, trends, and maps. Must have prior leadership experience and recent hands-on with SON & automation tools to ensure we are deploying a low cost, optimal network. Hands on with Samsung 5G RAN solutions, Dual SIM devices, Accuver XCAL/XCAP, and CBRS spectrum preferred.

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

Leadership

• Manage and plan work activities for a small team of RF engineering contractors. Host team meetings, provide direction, approve timesheets, and manage budget. Hire, develop, and utilize talent to meet objectives. Anticipate resource needs based on project schedules and expected workload.

• Create and present weekly program status updates to leadership team, internal and external teams, and project managers.

• Work closely with A&D, Operations and Samsung support teams to investigate & address hardware and software defects and optimization challenges identified prior to launch.

• Engage, problem solve, and communicate across the enterprise to drive successful initiatives.

• Partner across departments to meet goals and timelines, and collaborate with other groups when support is needed.

• Manage and evaluate drive test vendors, RAN vendors, & tools.

• Leader needs to be a clear communicator, be able to strive in fast paced and changing environment, and showcase self-sufficiency, personal enthusiasm, and proper judgement.

Pre-Launch Optimization

• Lead the Pre-launch optimization strategy for the 5G SA CBRS network, ensuring readiness for commercial deployment.

• Meet and align with the Site Development team, use the Site Tracker forecast, and plan subsequent RF optimization related activities.

• Ensure pre-launch configuration preparedness and site readiness checklist, prior to testing or launching new sites, clusters, or markets. Ensure all features, CIQ, and Gold Standards are correct before launch.

• Conduct detailed analysis of 5G SA network performance on a site, cluster, and market level

• Use desktop tools for interference analysis, field testing and spectrum strategy for CBRS network

• Design and implement automation scripts and tools such as SQL, Python to streamline optimization processes and reduce manual intervention

• Implement optimization strategies to enhance coverage, capacity, and overall network quality

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with design specifications and performance objectives for a scalable 5G data network.

• Incorporate lessons learned into future network designs and deployment.

• Create cluster and site maps using GIS tools such as QGIS, Atoll, Google Earth, and Accuver XCAP

• Review drive routes, test setup procedures, and cluster/market acceptance packages for Single SIM and Dual SIM (DSDS) performance

• Analyze drive test results and traces to validate pre-launch performance and troubleshoot issues

Post-Launch Optimization

• Responsible for auditing and remediating Gold Standards, interference, neighbors, PCI, features, etc

• Ensure Golden Standard Parameter implementation and alignment post launch

• Development, automation, and maintenance of CM & PM tools, reports, audits, and dashboards

• Publish a Network Score Card for all markets showing trends of important KPIs and ensure data integrity and accuracy

• Review network performance daily including top offenders, traffic, and complaints to ensure optimal coverag
