What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the overall cloud infrastructure data platform using modern IaC (Infrastructure as Code) practices.
  • Direct the design and build of data infrastructure utilizing cloud or OnPrem data services to support company data management and reporting objectives.
  • Oversee the development of ETL infrastructure, automation, and solutions to ingest and transform data as needed.
  • Ensure the design and implementation of data infrastructure components that guarantee high availability, reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Implement and manage monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address potential issues.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure the data platform adheres to industry standards and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with software development and systems integration teams to build comprehensive end-to-end data solutions.
  • Partner with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure the delivery of robust and reliable systems.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to engineers and teams, promoting best practices and efficient methodologies.
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment, encouraging clean implementations and open discussions about alternative solutions.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require in-office work 5 days per week and occasional attendance at other in-person meetings and events. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Platform, DataOps, Cloud, or Site Reliability focused on Data implementations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficient in building automation using languages such as Python, Shell, Ruby, and others.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with data streaming services such as Kafka, Kinesis, Firehose or other comparable services
  • Experience shaping and implementing data platforms using approaches such as Data Mesh, Data Frabric, Data Lakes, etc. And familiarity with the tools and vendors that supply solutions in this space such as: Databricks, Cloudera, AWS, etc.
  • Solid understanding of cloud data storage solutions such as RDS, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Mongo, Cockroach, Cassandra etc.
  • Several years of experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CDK).
