Overview
This position is integral to the continued and planned future growth of Iovance Biotherapeutics’ Cell Therapy Manufacturing Center and capabilities. The Senior Manager, Cost Accounting is responsible for overseeing cost accounting (including cost of goods sold, bill of materials and inventory costing. The Senior Manager provides reporting and analysis to the corporate finance and accounting team, including the SVP, Finance and CFO, to support the strategic and operational planning. The Senior manager works with Manufacturing Finance, Corporate Accounting and Corporate FP&A teams to support the monthly close processes and quarterly external financial reporting as well as to assure strong linkage of data reported and budgeted results.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly/quarterly close process for general ledger accounts.
- Prepare & analyze financial statements for the Company
- Ownership of overhead cost pool accumulation and allocation/absorption, as well as analysis of related costs and results.
- Ensure and coordinate timely monthly and quarterly cost accounting close activities for inventory and cost of sales, including reconciliations and review of reconciliations where appropriate, including generating journal entries where appropriate.
- Oversee quarterly and year-end physical inventory process with the operations team.
- Coordinate calculation and recording of appropriate inventory reserves working with operations team.
- Collaborate with Internal Audit with the ownership and execution of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for inventory and cost of sales, as well as ongoing reviews for potential enhancements and improvements.
- Support the forecast and budget process with timely inputs related to product volumes, purchases, expected overhead pool, costs per unit and cost of sales.
- Analysis of manufacturing organization spending, as well as support of the forecast process, and support of the FP&A organization in the preparation of materials for the monthly and quarterly financial review meetings.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly PBC schedules to support the audit and interim reviews, including working with audit firm on deliverables and related questions
- Proactively identify and analyze opportunities to improve results and facility processes.
- Support any internal and external financial audits.
- Directly supervise and develop a team of two Cost Accounting professionals, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to drive performance, support professional growth, and ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.

Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge
- BA or BS in Accounting
- 9+ years of progressive experience in accounting with cost accounting focus, biopharmaceutical industry, CPA and Big 4 experience is strongly preferred.
- In-depth cost accounting knowledge and experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting
- Experience operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley control environment.
- NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Strong forecasting & analytical skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate developed strategies and analysis clearly and effectively.
- Ability to build partnerships across functions.
- Detail oriented with insight to determine applicability of big picture.
- Proactive problem solver, expected to present problems and recommendations.
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to independently prioritize workload based on organizational needs/demands. Operates with a sense of urgency, as appropriate.
