  • This is a highly visible role within the US Consumer Risk Management team (2nd line of defense), which covers credit risk policy, performance oversight, and effective challenge for BMO's US Direct Lending portfolios, including real-estate secured (mortgage and home equity) and non-real-estate consumer loans distributed through BMO's direct channels.

  • Key focus areas for this role include:

    • Leveraging statistical models to analyze risk factors within our portfolios, forecast losses, and optimize risk/return

    • Deep dive research using various analytical tools and techniques to evaluate acquisition and account management risk strategies, and generate insights on portfolio performance relative to macro trends and competitive environment

    • Data storytelling to influence and enhance credit analysis and risk assessment processes that decide on the approval or rejection of loans

    • Cross functional collaboration with teams including Product Management, Finance, Operations, Compliance, Fair Lending.

Supports the execution of accurate and efficient reporting solutions for risk, regulatory and management information to internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies. Supports an efficient and effective risk management function which uses common information sources and practices, reduces ongoing costs, increases service level performance and minimizes risk.

  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.

  • Leads the development and maintenance of the risk reporting framework.

  • Acts as the prime subject matter expert for internal/external stakeholders.

  • Represents the risk reporting function during internal/external regulatory audits and/or examinations

  • Ensures alignment between stakeholders.

  • Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.

  • Develops and manages comprehensive information management systems; designs and/or leads initiatives to improve processes, analysis and reporting.

  • Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.

  • Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution.

  • May provide specialized support for other internal and external regulatory requirements.
