The Senior Manager, Commercial Real World Data Strategy role is a critical role to design and execute the Commercial data strategy at BMS. This business-critical position will optimize new launches and current business by driving the planning, identification, acquisition, and utilization of commercial data sources. This role will closely work with Marketing, Legal, Patient Services, Market Access/Trade, Procurement, IT/EIM, Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) Matrix teams, and other functions within BMS. The ideal candidate will support the Associate Director in planning, identifying, acquiring, and utilizing commercial data sources and technologies to generate business impact through enhanced insights and analytics.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

  • Partners with BI&A Matrix team, BU and Marketing leaders to synthesize key business questions, develop hypothetical solutions, analyze their feasibility and execute acquisition of data assets in support of Commercial Strategy.

  • Leads development of Alerts and related data analysis to support field sales team call planning.

  • Consults Sales Operations, field analytics team to help them answer data related queries from field.

  • Acts as a liaison with external vendors and internal teams to resolve data quality and invoice issues.

  • Collaborates closely with other BI&A groups (including Commercialization Analytics, Enterprise & Portfolio Management, and Data Science AI&BI Solutions), Marketing, BU Strategy & Operations, Finance, IT and Procurement to ensure alignment of data needs, timelines, deliverables, and costs.

  • Manages data contracts (MSA’s, SOW’s) with new and existing data vendors. Create data SOW’s in alignment with approved budget, amend, monitor and terminate contracts as required. Facilitate communications between Data Strategy, Procurement, Legal and Data Vendors.

  • Participates in the functional planning to support the budget process with Finance and Brand teams.

  • Monitors rapidly evolving data marketplace, identifying, evaluating, and acquiring new data sources and forging new partnerships in support of enhancing BMS’s competitive capabilities.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required, MBA /other graduate degree preferred

  • 3+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/healthcare industry related experience

  • 3+ years of experience data management or pharmaceutical data analytics

Competencies – knowledge, skills, abilities, other

  • Knowledge of secondary pharmaceutical data sources such as Retail & Non-Retail data, Medical & Pharmacy Claims, EMR, Lab Test/Diagnostics, Chart Audits, Specialty Pharmacy Data, 852/867 EDI and Health System/Payer – Plan hierarchies

  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analytics tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, R, SAS, MicroStrategy, Tableau, Spotfire with familiarity of emerging Analytics / Data Science capabilities (AI, ML, LLM)

  • Understanding of industry data use cases including patient journey analysis, performance management, targeting, market sizing & segmentation, customer affiliation, field alignment, and incentive compensation

  • Exposure to therapeutic areas, preferably Neuroscience

  • Awareness of healthcare related regulations and their impacts on pharmaceutical data

  • Experience with creating and presenting Business Cases and documenting business rules and managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
