Job Description
AECOM is actively growing the NYC Transportation Planning practice and is seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Transportation Planning Project Manager for Big Data Analyses and Data Visualization within the Transportation Business Line. The successful candidate will have experience overseeing and developing Planning projects focused on using data analytics in support of major infrastructure within NYC. Transportation/Transit planning projects for various federal/State/City clients will also be part of this role. The successful applicant will join a team of existing AECOM Transportation Planning specialists to assist in project delivery.
This is a hybrid office/remote role which will be based out of our NYC office. Our Senior Transportation Planning Project Manager (Big Data) is a newly created role to handle our growing business of Data Analytics (new paradigm of data aggregation of cell phone and other sources) for the Transportation industry to determine various planning metrics in support of areas that help define project purpose and needs. Experience in major infrastructure planning in metro areas is a key component of this position. This role will support the New York Metro Planning Manager and projects requiring data analytics and visualization for the development of transportation projects and support client relations.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Manage and perform consulting projects to scope, schedule, and budget, learning and applying AECOM’s project management systems and software. The candidate will accelerate through AECOM’s in-house Project Management certification program within the first year of employment
- Lead efforts to collect, organize, analyze and visualize Transportation data in support of decision-making efforts of NYC centric transportation infrastructure projects
- Lead efforts to develop frameworks and execute coding of data analysis for large scale data sources
- Serve as an interface with clients and regulatory personnel on complex projects and through business development initiatives
- Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff
- Coordinate, manage, and direct project field and data collection/management efforts
- Perform client visits and field activities that require work outside the office and evening meetings
- Develop, manage, and deliver business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and documents and report deliverables.
- Proactively enforce a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Health & Safety within the team
- Provide technical support to the Planning Department and individual Project Managers and support inter-disciplinary business development activities.
- Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 10 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years leadership
- Experience with data analytics
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years industry experience
- BS/BA in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Natural resources, or an earth science-related field or relevant degree
- Master's degree is beneficial
- 8+ years of project management experience
- Certification in project management (i.e. - PMP or similar)
- Experience with large scale data sets
- Experience with the ETL process and programming language for data analysis, like SQL/Python/R
- Experience with Data Visualization using PowerBI/Tableau
- Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and teams, including subconsultants
