Senior Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer ( Fully Remote)

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and optimizing mainframe systems software to ensure a stable and high-performing IT environment. This role is fully remote and a 6 month contract to hire. US Citizenship is required for this position due to Government Contract and the requirement of obtaining a US Security Clearance for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain z/OS operating systems and related software products.
• Perform system upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal disruption to business operations.
• Monitor system performance and implement tuning measures to optimize mainframe efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring system availability and reliability.
• Collaborate with application developers and support teams to address system-related challenges.
• Design and implement disaster recovery and high-availability solutions.
• Manage and maintain mainframe storage and backup systems.
• Create and update technical documentation, including operational procedures and system configurations.
• Provide on-call support for critical production systems as required.
• Analyze system logs and generate reports to identify trends and prevent potential issues.
• Ensure compliance with security policies, audits, and regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in mainframe technology and recommend enhancements.
