Senior JavaScript Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Senior JavaScript Engineer to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

As a Senior JavaScript Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. 

We are looking for a Senior JavaScript Engineer with strong design system or component library experience to help build, govern, and evolve a company-wide design system. The ideal candidate should have deep front-end engineering expertise, strong accessibility and performance knowledge, and the ability to work closely with Design, Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams.

This role is best suited to a senior engineer who can influence technical direction, promote engineering standards, and work confidently across multiple teams. You will join a highly motivated team and will be working on a modern solution for our existing client. We are looking for technology experts who want to make an impact on new business by applying best practices and taking ownership.

Responsibilities:

• Delivery. Create and maintain modern interfaces according to unit standards
• Code Quality. Follow and improve code quality standards
• Analyze and Estimate. Perform technical assessment of UI mockups/wireframes to ensure the possibility of their implementation within reasonable time
• Software Design. Create and review software feature design documents and provide the solution
• Contribute to the technical direction, architecture, tooling, and governance of the design system
• Collaborate with Design, Product, Architecture, and Engineering to ensure components are reusable, accessible, performant, and aligned to standards
• Support developers, review implementation quality, manage releases and breaking changes, and maintain clear technical documentation
• Contribute ideas through your knowledge of evolving front-end technologies
• Be proactive in communication with team members and client
• Use industry best practices of development processes & tools, adopt and improve them
• Mentorship of junior colleagues
• Take responsibility for project delivery playing role of the most senior technical person (by stack) at the project
• Direct client communications
• Set up efficient development workflow throughout proactive collaboration with any project role (ProjectManager, BA, PO, UX, UI, Arch, BE, DevOps)
• Problem solving, Solution Presentation, Meeting and Visual Facilitation

Requirements:

• HTML - Understands the purpose and use of all HTML elements. Able to explain the importance of the correct HTML for subjects such as SEO and Accessibility
• CSS - Advanced/expert level skills. Understanding of CSS architecture best practice. Knowledge of all aspects of the language and up to date with the latest features
• JavaScript - Core understanding of the native language. Proficient in TypeScript. Knowledge of web components. Ability to assess third-party libraries or frameworks for their appropriateness and can explain the pros/cons of their use
• Practical use of advanced features in React
• Strong knowledge of Web Components, design systems, component libraries, and scalable front-end architecture
• Practical accessibility experience, including WCAG 2.2 AA, ARIA, keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen reader testing
• Strong understanding of web performance, Core Web Vitals, optimisation techniques, and resilient web design
• Experience with automated testing, release management, documentation, and engineering governance
• Experience in designing solutions for complex features and creating documentation
• Uses the established standards and algorithms for implementing the application
• Experience in refactoring existing applications according to new requirements
• Hands-on experience with testing approaches and tools
• Ability to adjust and maintain the code quality rules and metrics
• Experience in configuring CI/CD pipelines (TravisCi, GitLabCI, etc.)
• Collaborates with the DevOps team to set up the custom CI/CD pipeline

Desirable:

• Experience with Contentful or similar headless CMS platforms
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence
• Internationalisation practices (i18n)
• Performance optimization techniques (critical CSS extraction, lazy loading etc.)
