About the role

Job Summary:

The Senior Grants Management Officer (SGMO) plays an essential role in all of Frontier Nursing University grantmaking activities  associated with federal, government, and private grant opportunities.. The SGMO oversees the administration and implementation of all grant activities, to ensure programs are following policies, procedures and best practices in all aspects of grantmaking. The SGMO coordinates and collaborates with the appropriate university leadership and faculty in researching, writing, and submitting grant applications. This position also manages all recognition, reporting, and accountability for grant funding and donor scholarship reporting.


Supervisory Responsibility

 This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Develop a deep understanding of Frontier Nursing University, programs, and degrees offered to ensure integrity and quality of proposal writing

  • Write grant applications that include a clear proposal, plan, activities and anticipated results

  • Actively researches federal, government and private grant opportunities aligned with FNU goals

  • Write high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents 

  • Manage all active grant reporting and data collection

  • Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials

  • Develop and maintain a proposal calendar 

  • Create and maintain ongoing strategy for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of granting organizations

  • Coordinate and follow-up on the progress of submitted proposals 

  • Conduct regular research to identify, cultivate and solicit new grants 

  • Send bi-annual impact statements to scholarship donors

  • Adhere to the elements of the Culture of Caring.

  • Provide service to the University through activities such as involvement in FNU shared governance (e.g. committees, workgroups), FNU sponsored activities (e.g. charity drives, community-outreach activities), and/or service to the profession (e.g. presentations, profession organization committee work). 

  • Participates as an active member of the Advancement staff. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrated superior writing, research, project management, and organizational skills 

  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly, ask thoughtful questions and synthesize information

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to successfully execute multiple, simultaneous projects on time with quality results

  • Ability to collaborate with various faculty and staff 

  • Outstanding grammar, research, and data analysis skills

  • Detail-oriented, organized, motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.


Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree required

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in successfully  researching, writing, and managing seven-figure grants; Higher Education and/or health care experience a plus

  • AGWA (American Grant Writers Association) or GPA (Grant Professionals Association) certification preferred 

Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the FNU Chief Advancement Officer.


Work Location:

Hybrid Remote and on the Versailles, KY Campus

Other Information

This position may be eligible for partial telecommuting.

Salary will be negotiable based upon education, experience, and certifications.

$61,200-$79,200
