Purpose
The Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist will manage the extramural funding operations for the Department of Psychology, provide comprehensive contracts and grants services, and ensure effective administrative management of funded grants.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-award grant support for Department of Psychology: grant proposal preparation support and submission, budget preparation, and grant award set-up and account creation
- Manage all aspects of sub-awards: coordinate with outside institutions to process and submit all sub-award proposals; track, submit invoices, and issue payments for outside sub-awards managed by the Psychology Department
- Process and submit non-funded agreements (DUAs, NDAs, CDCPs, etc.)
- Business contracts: Develop and submit all department contracts, including purchasing contracts, consultant, and independent contractor payments
- Provide ongoing education and communication with researchers in department about proposal deadlines, upcoming funding opportunities, and updates to grant-related policy and procedures issued by UT and federal funding agencies
- Hold regular meetings with post-award support staff to ensure smooth transition from pre-award to post-award support. Serve as back-up for post-award support roles
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in the preparation, processing, and administration of research grant and/or contract proposals, including budget development. Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines. Attention to detail and excellent verbal communication and writing skills. Dedication to providing outstanding service and support for a high-volume research unit. Proficient with Excel, Word, and Adobe software. Familiarity with UT policies and procedures.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
More than the minimum years of experience in preparation, processing, and negotiation of research proposals and contracts, including budget development. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification. Familiarity with university electronic systems, including UTRMS, FRMS, and DEFINE. Proficiency with external electronic research administration systems such as ERA Commons and Research.gov. Experience with National Institute of Health guidelines and protocols. Broad knowle
