About the Role:

Our Data Pipeline team processes vast quantities of satellite image data into beautiful, visual products that provide scientifically useful analytics and actionable information. The group is responsible for taking millions of images a day from downlink to customer workflows. The work of the Data Pipeline team is performed at scale and affects millions of images and terabytes of data. There is much work to be done and this would be a great experience for a senior engineer who has experience with image processing code at scale.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Develop image processing software to deliver imagery products
  • Further improve pipeline efficiency and reduce latency
  • Implement image quality metrics
  • Troubleshoot field quality issues
  • Work with Payload group to support hardware changes

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience writing software to manipulate geospatial data
  • Extensive knowledge of GDAL and other open-source GIS tools
  • Experience writing production code in Python
  • Knowledge of how to scale code with cloud computing resources, e.g. AWS or GCP
  • Proficiency with software engineering best practices such as version control, testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • A passion for Programming, Photography, Remote Sensing, Earth Sciences, and Geography

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Experience with containerization and container orchestration tools like Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience packaging, and deploying software
  • Experience leveraging scientific computing using Python in a Unix/Linux environment
  • Experience with existing and evolving standards for representing geospatial data on the web

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $124,000 - $203,000.  Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location.  The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
