Since 2022, we have successfully launched guest travel insurance in the US, UK, and EU (8 countries) markets. In 2024 and onwards, we are expanding the global eligibility for guest travel insurance, and building new platforms to support its growth scalably.

The Difference You Will Make:

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer on the Insurance Expansion Team, you will have the autonomy to:

• Influence different surface areas across the company to enable seamless and extensible integration with the insurance platform.
• Influence the product and UX requirements by engaging early and often with designers, product managers and other stakeholders to help steer teams on the most efficient path towards overall goals
• Launch, expand and optimize our protection products across new markets, surface areas, and cohorts of users.
• Seize greenfield opportunities on a fast-growing team.
• Deliver on a strategic, multi-year roadmap and global rollout for web platforms. 
• Identify and propose solutions to problems coming in the way of product engineering excellence
• Help build out the team, cultivate innovation and growth, and nurture a culture of technical quality from design, through code review, to production operations

A Typical Day: 

• Collaborating with Product Managers, Experience Designers, Data Scientists, to identify opportunities for business impact, and design and deliver high-quality products
• Building efficient and reusable web components and architecting reliable, performant, and scalable solutions with high performance
• Developing prototypes, conducting experiments and iterating features following data-driven approaches
• Identifying areas of improvement and driving engineering best practices
• Writing clean, testable and maintainable code to implement the features and improve the platform.
• Facilitating and joining collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams (e.g. Guest & Host, Payments), to extend Airbnb’s core functionality for Insurance purposes, promoting innovation and growth.

Your Expertise:

• 5+ years industry experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals
• Robust design and product sensibilities
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and ownership of problem definitions
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience working with GraphQL APIs
• [Bonus] Experience building frontend applications across various mediums (web, email, or native) is a plus

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
