About the role

About Us

One Medical is a primary care solution challenging the industry status quo by making quality care more affordable, accessible and enjoyable. But this isn’t your average doctor’s office. We’re on a mission to transform healthcare, which means improving the experience for everyone involved - from patients and providers to employers and health networks. Our seamless in-office and 24/7 virtual care services, on-site labs, and programs for preventive care, chronic care management, common illnesses and mental health concerns have been delighting people for the past fifteen years.

In February 2023 we marked a milestone when One Medical joined Amazon. Together, we look to deliver exceptional health care to more consumers, employers, care team members, and health networks to achieve better health outcomes. As we continue to grow and seek to impact more lives, we’re building a diverse, driven and empathetic team, while working hard to cultivate an environment where everyone can thrive.

Opportunity

One Medical’s Care Team organization is responsible for masking the complexity of care systems for our clinical and operational team members and enabling our care team members to focus on building relationships with our members and delivering best-in-class care.  We support the internal-facing EHR product and APIs. These aid our Clinical and Operations teams in preparing for, completing, or documenting a patient encounter in support of both transactional and longitudinal care to optimize health outcomes in innovative and delightful ways.

Our team’s mission is to make the rote work of keeping people healthy as efficient as possible in order to enable providers to spend more time during visits addressing the unique needs of the member. We do this by automating workflows, surfacing pertinent data, routing work to the correct operations teams.

We are looking for someone who loves to solve problems. You’ll use that skill to design and build systems that address some of the most pressing problems in healthcare, such as contributing to the improvement of our members’ long term health outcomes. With great collaboration skills and an eye for users’ needs, you’ll enjoy working with clinicians and your fellow product development teammates to research, scope, and implement projects. You will act to continuously improve your own skills and the processes of your team. You value scalability, maintainability, and security.

What you'll likely work on:

  • Add further sophistication to our rules engines, automating routing and care
  • Help drive our ongoing modularization of a monolith
  • Design and develop a process for transferring critical clinical data into our system
  • Work closely with Design and Product from the ideation stage all the way to post-release improvements

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • Proficiency in a full stack environment (Ruby/Rails, Javascript, Django/Python or Node)
  • Experience with modern JavaScript libraries and tooling (React/Redux, Angular/NgRx, or other front end frameworks)
  • Test-driven development (ex Jest, Rspec, Cypress)
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with partners across the organization
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, or etc)
  • Experience building integrations with 3rd party vendors

Not required, but would be great if:

  • Experience with ElasticSearch in production at scale.
  • Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code technology.
  • Experience with event driven microservices architecture and technology like RabbitMQ.
  • Experience integrating with high-volume third party APIs at scale
  • Experience working with Large Language Models and other machine learning technologies.
