Description

As a Senior Frontend software engineer on the Stargazer team, you will own the design and development of the frontend software of the Verily Numetric Retinal Camera. We are developing the next generation of our camera which is used in the process of screening for diabetic retinopathy, a disease which impacts an estimated 9.6 million people in the US alone. This position will give you the opportunity to be part of the early stages of this ground-up frontend development.

You will work closely with the rest of the camera software team and beyond as well as the UX and product teams. Ideally you have experience in fast-paced medical device design and development through to commercial launch, but a deep interest in it is also a fine starting point.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop web applications using React and Typescript.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine technical specifications, taking ownership of design oversight, scoping and project deliverables.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and uphold best practices, promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest front-end technologies, trends, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the overall architecture and design decisions for the front-end codebase and beyond.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years experience working in a professional software development environment.
  • A solid understanding of modern HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts.
  • A solid understanding of core web and browser technologies.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with an interest in working in a highly cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced features of TypeScript (especially the type system)
  • Experience working with medical devices and / or in a highly regulated field
  • Passion for UX/UI design and an intuitive product sense
  • Experience with developing user interfaces for embedded devices
  • Experience in a highly matrixed organization

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000 - $210,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
