TEAM & ROLE

As a Senior Front End Engineer you work closely with our designers as well as our backend engineering team. You’ll ship new features for our apps, build out a common base for shared logic between them and work to ensure high code quality and test coverage in our frontends.

Our team is small (and growing), but mighty! With an engineering team of fewer than 10 people, we’ve built a massive amount over the past few years, such as: 

• Backend software that sits in the credit card authorization flow and makes an approve or decline decision in real time when a user swipes their card
• Three awesome clients (an end-user web app, a mobile app, and an admin web app), plus push provisioning of our cards into Apple and Google Pay
• A full-fledged general ledger system that tracks every movement of money in our ecosystem and continuously reconciles against external bank accounts

We face complex challenges every day and get the satisfaction of coming up with really creative solutions to them. For example, we recently met a mission-critical business need by parsing and transforming Postgres query ASTs. We’ve also started rolling out dynamically provisioned infrastructure where our application creates and updates AWS resources based on values in our database.

Python, Django, Django Rest Framework, Javascript, React, Tailwind CSS, React Native (plus a bit of Objective-C and Java when it’s called for), AWS, Docker

ABOUT YOU

• You're comfortable diving into the weeds.
• You have broad technical knowledge and a hunger to learn new topics quickly.
• You have exceptional communication skills and can communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You thrive in fast-paced environments with a high degree of autonomy.

REQUIREMENTS

• Have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Have 5+ years of experience with Javascript & React or React Native
• Be familiar with GraphQL, the node ecosystem, and clientside best practices
• Write clean, testable and maintainable code
• Be comfortable writing native iOS & Android code as needed
• Have experience working with UI and UX designers

BONUS SKILLS

• Experience with payments or fintech
• Security Compliance
• Writing software in a regulated environment

COMPENSATION

• Base: $150K - $200K

Range(s) is subject to change. Benepass takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including your expectations, how you interview, peer compensation and years of experience. We also look at the market data using Pave (Option Impact).
