Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Fighters Communications Avionics Engineer (Level 5) to join the Fighters Communications & Production Support team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

This position leads development, integration, test, and sustainment activities for communications equipment installed on Fighters programs including the F-15, F/A-18, and E/A-18G Platforms. The selected candidate will lead work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements, lead and coordinate work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications, lead work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements, coordinate with others to develop program test strategies, conduct program independent reviews and report to program leadership, solve problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle, and research technology advances for potential application to company business needs. The candidate will be recognized as an expert in process development and qualification, physical and functional integration and installation design and resolving supplier technical issues.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead work with customers and suppliers to develop and document requirements, designs, and specifications

  • Lead work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements

  • Advise, assist, and check the work of a team of equipment engineers responsible for communications equipment on Fighters aircraft to include antennas, radios, intercoms, interface units, etc.

  • Develop Basis of Estimates for new work

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, geology, physics, computer science or mathematics

  • 10+ years of experience developing or integrating avionics or mission systems

  • 10+ years of experience with radio frequency (RF), modems, wireless, and advanced communications systems

  • 10+ years of experience with test equipment including RF (radio frequency) sources, power meters, and spectrum analyzers

  • Experience working with internal and external customers and suppliers

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with internal and external customers and suppliers

  • Experience working within an Agile framework

  • Knowledge of antenna and aperture characteristics for application to communications and network system designs.

  • Knowledge of communications and network system design from architecture development to component design.

  • Knowledge of secure communications.

  • Knowledge of methods to ensure communication system survivability.

  • Knowledge of communications and network system power system requirements.

  • Knowledge of radio frequency compatibility.

  • Knowledge of multi-discipline integrating issues applicable to communications and network systems, including primary characteristics such as physical and functional interfaces, communications reliability, link availability, and environmental constraints. Additional characteristics include: human factors, maintainability, testability, supportability, mechanical design, packaging, electrical, and software.

  • Knowledge of test methodologies for voice and data networks and communications equipment.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9
