We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Services Tech to provide expert-level end-user and CAD application support. This is an exciting, on-site opportunity in Syracuse, NY, to work with cutting-edge technology and play a critical role within a leader in the U.S. defense community.
You will be responsible for working with the Field Services team while also acting as a collaborative force, working directly with engineers, designers, and IT teams. This role is vital to maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing critical CAD and PLM software used throughout our shipbuilding projects in a high-performance computing (HPC) setting. If you are passionate about learning and have a deep expertise in Linux environments with a mindset for automation and performance tuning, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

Corporate Responsibilities 
•    Oversee change management, incident management, and monthly patching for all applications. Ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, and applications are up to date with the latest security and patching protocols.
•    Handle software Installation, renewals, and license management..
•    Assist engineers and designers with technical issues related to CAD software, providing training and best practices when necessary.
•    Work closely with IT infrastructure teams, software vendors, and engineering departments to optimize system performance and contribute to the IT Roadmap.
•    Provide onsite technical support for end-users, including the deployment and troubleshooting of various IT assets (e.g., desktops, laptops).
•    Set up new equipment and devices; set up and maintain workstations; provide appropriate access to applications, systems, and data
•    Train end-users on new devices and technologies
•    Provide guidance and explain policies and procedures to IT support staff and end-users
•    Communicate and translate technical information to non-technical end users; maintain communication and monitor incident through resolution
•    Participate in the maintenance, implementation, troubleshooting, and end-user support for applications, mobile devices, servers for on-site and remote support to end users company wide
Program Responsibilities
•    Security: Create and maintain a Site Security Plan (SSP) in support of engineering development and high performance processing, following DFARS, NIST, and CMMC compliance standards for government and defense related projects.
•    Manage, configure, and optimize Linux servers and workstations (Ubuntu, RHEL).
•    Develop scripts (Bash, Python, Salt) to automate system administration tasks and software deployments.
•    Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for shipbuilding CAD applications like Siemens NX, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD, Aveva Marine, and CATIA.
•    Diagnose and resolve performance issues related to CAD applications, graphics rendering, and system resource utilization.
•    Maintain a virtual machine cluster supporting engineering.
•    Update and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies and implement changes as necessary.
•    Work with vendors to update and troubleshoot computerized lab equipment including 3d printers, laser engravers, x-ray, thermal chambers, etc. .
•    Maintain high performance (25/100Gb) network between clustered computers, lab and development environment

•    9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doc
