We’re in growth mode and looking to add a dynamic Senior Engineering Manager to our PayNearMe team. This position will report to the VP, Engineering.

Job Description

Step into the role of Senior Engineering Manager and lead our engineering teams towards unmatched excellence! Qualifications

Here is what we need from you:

Team Leadership

  • Brings experience in developing high-performing engineering teams, with a focus on psychological safety, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Holds expertise in both agile and traditional project management methodologies, skillfully customizing approaches to positively challenge teams while avoiding burnout (scrum master certification preferred).
  • Commits to implementing and innovating SDLC best practices to boost team engagement and productivity.
  • Dedicates efforts to the personal and professional development of each team member through mentorship and goal-setting.

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrates high proficiency in Ruby, Rails, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, and MySQL, backed by over 10 years of experience and a flexible approach to new technologies.
  • Shows proven success in the thorough comprehension and documentation of complex systems, with a willingness to explore code for complete feature understanding.
  • Possesses extensive experience in transitioning from monolithic to service-oriented architectures in environments where stability trumps speed.
  • Is skilled at taking a hands-on approach to critical issues and projects, ensuring a strategic balance between direct contributions and leadership.

Business Domain

  • Offers extensive expertise in navigating the complexities of fintech and payment systems.
  • Displays a strong commitment to mastering accounting methodologies relevant to tracking movements in payment systems.
  • Is proficient in collaborating with finance and accounting teams to identify workflow inefficiencies and propose technical solutions for enhanced efficiency, risk minimization, and variance resolution.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Engages closely with product and QA teams to set and achieve realistic, ambitious quarterly OKRs, considering existing constraints.
  • Brings experience in coordinating with product managers to ensure the creation of well-documented user stories and acceptance criteria before development.
  • Excels at drafting technical documentation that distills complex solutions into understandable, actionable tasks for diverse audiences.
  • Is skilled in fostering constructive dialogue to resolve conflicts, thereby enhancing the collaborative work environment.

Additional Information

Location: Flexible/Remote (within the US)

Salary Range: $180,000 - 215,000 DOE
