Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently seeking Senior Electrical Design Engineers to become part of the Commercial Modifications and Engineering Special Projects team in Long Beach, California. Electrical Design Engineers work with system owners to develop electrical designs and documentation. Produce electrical systems to support postproduction modifications - everything from McDonald Douglas MD series airplanes to the latest Boeing 777X aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs. Analyzes results and performs design reviews

  • Develops and maintains electrical product detail, assembly and installation designs (e.g., equipment racks, power panels, cable routing and geometry, antennas)

  • Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests). Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commodities

  • Analyzes functional and physical input to assure development of complete integrated design

  • Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources

  • Verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures (e.g. DO-160 and D6 requirements), including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements

  • Assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years related work experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures (e.g. DO-160 and D6 requirements), including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements

  • Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance. Knowledge of Electrical and/or Environmental qualification test procedures is a plus. Familiarity with commercial aircraft FARs is a plus

  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design and packaging techniques

  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical/electronic design (e.g., wire harness design, grounding and shielding design techniques, lightning protection)

  • Ability to integrate hardware and software components into a functional system

  • Knowledge of testing, usability practices

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more year
