As the leader of Systems Pathfinding in the Technology and Product Group (TPG) Pathfinding team, you will lead a team chartered with innovating across software, architectures, memory systems, and memory devices. You and your team will provide the critical link between understanding workloads on real systems and translating that into better memory technologies and products. Leveraging deep and broad technical expertise in full-stack computer systems, you will drive customer engagements and systems characterization to discover innovation opportunities to improve the value proposition of memory within both data center and edge systems. By demonstrating strong competence in leadership, you will elevate the return on investment of a very senior, highly technical Systems Pathfinding team. This role is one of the most critical pathfinding roles in the company due to its ability to clearly focus Micron’s resources on solutions that address customer and ecosystem problems for competitive advantage. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Define the vision for memory systems pathfinding work at Micron that results in maximized return on investment to improve the value proposition of our future product portfolio.
- Leverage deep technical understanding of current and future data center and edge compute architectures and their usage of memory and storage to set technical priorities for memory systems pathfinding work
- Create, correlate, and maintain innovative simulation- and emulation-based methodologies to identify hardware and software bottlenecks in data center and edge systems
- Develop a culture of innovation and foster effective ideation within the team to drive new innovations that address compute challenges
- Systematically quantify the value proposition of innovative ideas through system analysis and proofs of concept to increase probability of success
- De-risk innovations for incorporation into product portfolio by driving prototype hardware and software
- Foster collaborative culture and closely interact with product execution engineering teams to transfer innovations for deployment
- Establish and grow deep technical engagements with customers leading to insights for the Micron pathfinding direction and the opportunity for joint development
- Evaluate start-ups and contribute to investment and/or acquisition decisions
- Pursue US government funding opportunities, developing strong relationships with government researchers and strategically aligning with internal projects
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience with Masters in CS/EE or 15+ year experience with Bachelors in CS/EE
- 5+ years of pathfinding or advanced development of memory or memory-related innovations leading to successful deployment in products
- Expert understanding of the memory hierarchy, DRAM memory and NAND storage in compute architectures and the ability to evaluate opportunities for emerging memory
- Full-stack expertise in CPU-centric and GPU-centric compute architectures and/or edge (client, mobile) compute architectures and their future scaling problem statements
- Understanding of next-generation interconnects and protocols and how to leverage them to define new opportunities for memory and storage
- Strong track record of personal innovations and driving team innovations that deliver product and business value
- Evidence of team or peer group management success driving strong team engagement and attracting/developing senior technical talent
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with executive leadership to advocate strategic direction and project investment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills through all levels of the organization
- Excellent analytical, analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Adaptable to a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with dynamic demands
The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$226,500.00 - $462,500.00Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
