Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Development will collaboratively develop and implement Kids Alive International’s strategic plan to provide financial resources for our programs with the Chief Resource Officer. This role will lead the Major Gifts and Cultivation teams carrying out fund development and major donor relations by providing direction, accountability, and support. This role will work with a caseload of major donor relationships.
Essential Duties:
Strategic Leadership (30%):
- Oversee Major Gifts and Cultivation Teams.
- Develop and lead implementation of strategic engagement plans for Major Gifts and Cultivation teams aligned with KAI’s overall strategic plan.
- Partner with the Chief Resource Officer (CRO) to identify and analyze KAI’s current fundraising landscape and potential areas for growth.
- Coach and develop team members to enhance their fundraising skills and performance.
- Create a collaborative and positive work environment for the development team.
- Provide trend analysis and progress reports to the executive team.
Donor Management and Cultivation (60%)
- Maintain a caseload of approximately 100 donors.
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen major donor relationships.
- Cultivate Kids Alive Ambassadors from existing major donor relationships.
- Expand KAI’s donor base and increase revenue.
- Accurately report the impact of Kids Alive International programs to donors.
- Make direct solicitations to secure major gifts from donors through personalized outreach and engagement.
- Plan and lead vision trips for major donors.
- Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition.
- Maintain discretion and appropriate confidentiality.
- Facilitate logistical details for gatherings and events, coordinating with and directing other staff and independently managing unexpected needs or issues as they arise.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records, policies, Standards of Practice, and other documentation so that they are organized and accessible to the appropriate internal parties.
Budgeting and Reporting (10%)
- Gather and analyze metrics to measure the success of fundraising campaigns and development initiatives within the Major Gifts and Cultivation teams.
- Collaborate with CRO to develop and manage a comprehensive development budget, including allocation of resources across different fundraising initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to CRO on key performance indicators.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage the regional development directors and the cultivation teams by providing direction, support, and accountability.
- Lead the Major Gifts and Cultivation teams in execution of strategic plans and/or client relations, and in evaluation of outcomes
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 6-8 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations, or in roles of increasing supervisory responsibil
