Position Overview: 
RealNetworks’ Mobile Messaging team in New York is looking for a Senior Dev/Ops Engineer to play a critical role in the development of our legacy product as well as Kontxt, our patent-pending technology to provide next-generation management of text messaging on mobile networks, along with state-of-the-art spam and gray route controls. For over 15 years, RealNetworks’ Mobile Messaging products have been at the forefront of expanding the reach of mobile messaging connectivity throughout the world.  

As a full-time professional specializing in Operations/DevOps, you will play a critical role in supporting the continued success of our product as well as contributing to ambitious new initiatives through the successful and seamless delivery and deployment of software for our customers by ensuring we meet product milestones and improve the way this team provides outstanding services to our customers. This role is expected to work in a hybrid work mode.

In this role, you will: 

• Perform detailed technical design, development, and unit testing of complex applications and data in the context of projects, releases, or production support in an agile environment;
• Perform configuration management and application deployment using tools such as Chef, Puppet, and Ansible;
• Create, scale, and fine-tune production Spark clusters and clusters for streaming frameworks using tools such as Kafka;
• Deploy, scale, and manage NoSQL clusters, using Cassandra;
• Set up virtual machines and deployment images; and
• Participate in an on-call rotation, as required, for application support.

Success in this role will require demonstrated experience in the areas described above as well as experience in monitoring and cluster management (e.g. resource monitoring, logging aggregation, etc.) and good scripting ability.
 

A successful candidate for this role must have: 

• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Experience designing and implementing complex MapReduce algorithms.
• Experience in designing and architecting scalable NoSQL environments.
• Experience with Airflow.
• Experience using build systems.
• Expertise in Spark Core, Spark Streaming, Spark SQL, and using Spark against NoSQL databases.
• Experience in AWS deployment and management; experience using Vagrant and build systems; knowledge of Oracle Solaris; and experience in Java/Scala development will also be very valuable.
