Dow Coating Materials leads innovation in technologies that help advance the performance of paints and coatings.  We offer a broad portfolio of binders, dispersants, and rheology modifiers for a wide variety of end markets. About you and this role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Customer Manager, to be done via virtual office in the United States (Atlanta-area is preferred). Your primary focus in this role will be to defend and grow our business in the Functional Coatings space. A very critical component of this role is driving existing portfolio profitability while advancing new technologies, as it relates to our Paper portfolio business. 

This opportunity has a technical sales focus and you must be able to engage with customers technical needs at the macro level.  You will work closely with the Marketing Team and the Technical Service Team to drive growth in these segments. 

This role entails a good blend of defending the existing portfolio, but also identifying and growing with the existing customers and new customers. You will work closely with the Marketing Manager, Product Manager and the technical service team to drive growth in these segments.  Willingness to travel to be in front of our Key and Priority customers is critical. This role reports to the NAR Sales Director.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing accounts/own customer relationships
  • Assess new sales development opportunities based on customer and market needs, value propositions, and pricing
  • Develop and execute sales/marketing plan, delivering volume and variable margin aligned with BP
  • Work with customers closely for forecast and demand needs
  • Identify new areas of collaboration between Dow and the customers
  • Maintain a high degree of knowledge of Dow Coating Materials technology
  • Develop an in depth understanding of Customers market
  • Ability to learn and understand technologies to drive for growth and innovation
  • Collaborate closely with multi-functional teams (Technical Service, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Customer Service) to effectively interface with customers
  • Analyze and collect competitors’ activity and market trends
  • Lead/conduct negotiations, implements price changes
  • Collaborate with other function(s) stakeholders to deliver improving CX result
  • Have proven track record of mentorship, and coaching and a passion for leading through example
  • Use CRM, DSR, Smart Pricing at expert level

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant working experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 70%
  • A valid U.S. Driver's license
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Preferred Skills

  • Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other technical background degree or Minor in relevant sciences
  • Previous commercial interface/experience
  • Strong desire to learn and understand the technical nature of Coatings sales
  • Self-starter with a strong bias for action and negotiating skills
  • Good interpersonal effectiveness
  • Leadership skills to work cross-functionally and ability to successfully drive initiatives/issues through influence
  • Project management skills, business acumen, and strategic / analytical thinking capability
