Who are you?
You are an experienced Senior Cost Controller - Infrastructure with a minimum of 7 years post-graduate experience looking for the next step or are currently undertaking a similar role in a similar environment.
Job Description
The Senior Cost Consultant (Controls) day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Supporting Project managers/Cost Managers in all elements of cost controls including Budgeting, forecasting, change management and risk management. The Senior Consultant does this through advising the project managers on utilizing controls tools within Project Governance Framework and through Project Management Software, and reviewing the outputs they produce.
- Reviewing pre-tender requests prior to projects going out to tender to confirm budget is available and that the cost information has the appropriate breakdown for entry into the financial system.
- Reviewing all procurement sourcing strategies for the portfolio, making recommendations on prequalified suppliers to invite to bid, and validating that the procurement approach meets governance requirements.
- Supporting Project Managers in developing their sourcing strategies through discussing routes to market, delivery models and contract options.
- Developing, manage and monitor the Project budget, Estimate at completion forecast and rate of expenditures. Submit for review and approval a proposed Project Management staffing plan and budget for the year ahead.
- Reviewing, Evaluate and support negotiation of contract changes prior to their execution in the financial system.
- Reviewing, Analyze and Process contractor Payment application and Invoices.
- Reviewing and/or produce month end reporting data with the delivery teams and identifying priority projects to be reported up to the leadership team.
- Develop, maintain Key Performance Indicators to track the performance of the Project
- Supporting Project Managers in transferring capital project costs to assets and the financial closure of projects.
- Leading development of new Controls tools or Project Management Software functionality to support Project Controls.
- Providing training on new Controls tools and/or Project Management Software functionality
- Reporting to the Finance Department on portfolio financial variances, the pipeline for project financial closure, potential project write-offs and providing status updates on projects of interest when requested.
- Developing content for the Project Governance Framework relating to Project Controls.
Working as a team and effectively engaging different stakeholders is essential to carrying out the Senior Consultant role. The Senior Consultant should:
- Understand different stakeholder and team member priorities and adapt how we support them accordingly
- Embrace change and continuous improvement, and be a champion of change
- Prioritize tasks when there is a high volume of varied activities
- Demonstrate an ability to work both independently and as a team
Qualifications
*On-site presence in the Manhattan office is required. Requirements may change depending on our client's needs.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience working for a large Infrastructure client (Rail, Aviation, Transportation, Highways, Roads, Bridges, Utilities)
- US construction experience is required
- A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
- Membership of Relevant Professional Organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)
Additional Information
The salary range for this full-time role is $150K-$190K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary.
