Senior Business Systems Analyst (Appian)

Job Description:

The U.S. Forest Service (FS) seeks an Senior Business Systems Analyst (Appian) to support the project which provides application development services utilizing low code development platforms, and support for low/no code platforms.

Duties/ Responsibilities 

• Work with IT stakeholders to gather feedback and define the minimum viable product (MVP) that satisfies the business need.
• Work with IT stakeholders and customers to translate business needs into Appian requirements
• Develop and maintain requirements documentation (process diagrams, use cases, user stories, RTMs, etc.).
• Leverage Appian features to create future state process diagrams and determine new use cases.
• At a high level, understand how Appian can integrate with other third-party technologies.
• Modify, document, and review business requirements, functional requirements and technical specifications needed for project documents. Execute change control on approved documents.
• Work with Scrum team (developers, Product Owner, tester) and stakeholders to ensure the application build meets business requirements.
• Lead clarification and validation of requirements during the development and delivery of the solution.
• Efficiently manages time on tasks.
• Must have strong communication skills and be able to work independently.
• Assumes responsibility for project tasks and ensuring they are completed in a timely fashion.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Experience translating business needs into Appian requirements
• Experience on an Appian implementation project
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Ability to write user stories
• Ability to create client-ready documentation/deliverables
• Experience leading requirements gathering workshops or facilitating requirements meetings
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Understands the Software Development Lifecyle concepts and process

Nice to Have Skills

• Appian Certified Analyst

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in business analysis, business administration, IT, or any related field
  • If candidate doesn't have Bachelor's Degree years of experience is 11 years
  • If candidate has Master's Degree years of experience is 6 years 
• 7+ years of relevant project experience

Travel Requirement:

• Rare/unlikely

Clearance Requirement:

• Public Trust
• Can be a US Citizen or Greencard holder. 
  • If holding a green card, you must have been a U.S. resident for at least the past three years 

Salary Range:

120k - 140k annually
