The Senior Business System Analyst provides leadership on strategic business analysis and support services to business partners. The position works with executive leadership on important College strategic initiatives and works with business units, project teams, and Information Technology technical resources to gain a broad understanding of business process and technology alignment, and performs in-depth analytical activities about data, process, and solutions that bring business efficiency and technology innovation to the College. The position supports the College’s high visibility projects that serve faculty, staff, and students and is a key member of the Workday Student project in leading the discovery, design, and documentation of new business processes, data literacy, and integration, and advocating for organizational change.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Lead and collaborate with stakeholders in the Workday Student project to define and document business processes, functional gaps, and improvement opportunities that will improve business efficiency.
  • Lead and collaborate with IT technical teams and business users on Workday data conversion, integration, and reporting, including defining scope, documenting requirements, performing data mapping, and End-to-End testing with business units and 3rd party vendors.  
  • Lead and organize vendor demos to identify optional products and solutions that address business needs. Create comprehensive project proposals that tailor specific business objectives, deliverables, products, and business gap analyses.
  • Lead functional and data requirements information gathering sessions with project teams delivering BRD, workflows, and data mapping project-related documents. 
  • Participate in dashboard, report, and AI project initiatives, collaborating with business users, BI, and Development teams in identifying KPIs and metrics and ensuring deliverables contain accurate and relevant information.
  • Develop test scenarios with the project team and execute the test plan to achieve satisfactory user test acceptance.
  • Advocate and train department users on how to use digital forms, workflows, reports, and dashboard solutions to improve their daily jobs and user experience. Provide data literacy education to guide business users on how and where to access information in the enterprise ecosystem.
  • Monitor and evaluate the use of Banner, Workday, Salesforce CRM, and other important campus systems to assess whether business processes and data standards are followed. Recommend areas of improvement and implement the best practices.
  • Review EDS technical manuals, Zendesk articles, and other reference materials to keep information up to date.
  • Identify challenges with the business's software, process, or system. Meet with academic and functional departments to see where they need technological assistance and develop viable plans to address them.
  • Assume some Clickup administration responsibilities to add new users, manage user and group access, create and maintain new workspace for new business departments, and organize Clickup demo/training with other Clickup user groups.
  • Work with the PMO and project team to manage, share, and communicate project information using Zendesk or other project communication sites. 
  • Collaborate with the IT Communication Team to develop clear and concise communication messages regarding incidents, software launches, problems, and change management. Collaborate with the Workday Change Manager to advocate organizational change.

QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job effectively.

  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field is required.  A Master’s degree in Information technology, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a business system analyst or a combination of 15 years total working experience required
  • Must understand software development life cycle and project management methodology
  • Strong experience in working with Enterprise Systems and Information Technology required
  • In-depth understanding of the business process in areas such as Student, Academic, Admissions, Finance, and campus business preferred
  • Previous experience in business analysis within higher education institutions is preferred
