About the role:
At Vantage, the Senior Business Intelligence Engineer is a key member of our data and analytics team, dedicated to providing analytical solutions and tools that support our insurance and reinsurance underwriting activities. This role involves preparing and presenting complex data in an accessible manner to business teams. You will work closely with both business and technical teams to develop, design, and deliver self-service reporting and analytical tools that enable faster and improved data driven decision making.
The base salary expectation for this role is between $100,000 and $150,000. Actual base salary for the selected candidate may be higher commensurate with candidate experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Support the AVP, Enterprise Data Lead in developing and enhancing reporting and analytics capabilities.
• Prepare complex reports and analyses to support underwriting decisions.
• Manage data preparation for reporting, reference tables, Power BI reports leveraging data from diverse sources including but not limited to our Enterprise Data Warehouse, RDM (Reference Data Management), MDM (Master Data Management), data lakes, and data marts.
• Provide ongoing production support on existing reports.
• Educated new end users on existing reporting and reporting tools.
• Resolve and escalate issues, prioritizing and tracking them.
• Manage assigned development projects acting as a data and reporting subject matter expert to support the development of new and enhanced reporting and analytics capabilities.
• Perform detailed analysis of source and target systems to write approaches, requirements, and mapping specifications in collaboration with the business for the technical team to develop.
• Gather requirements from business users and develop data specifications for new report development, enhancements, and/or addressing issues. Collaborate with developers to ensure specifications are understood and followed.
• Manage quality assurance testing of in development solutions to ensure delivery of best solution and end user acceptance. Design and implement test cases and testing plans.
• Provide subject matter expertise with various levels of business and technical users throughout the project lifecycle to ensure proper documentation of requirements, specifications, system acceptance and testing and post-production roll-out support.
• Apply continuous learning to assigned body of work. Learn new databases, systems, and techniques to advance the reporting capabilities of the organization.
• Competent with agile methodology processes and engagement in weekly stand-up, backlog grooming, and planning sessions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data science or other related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in data analytics and/or data platform.
• Strong knowledge of Property & Casualty Insurance and related business processes including policy lifecycle management, claims handling and processing, understanding the use of analytics in the underwriting and claims management.
• Strong communication skills. Must be comfortable speaking with and presenting to senior business leaders with respect to data solutions and challenges.
• Experience with Insurance reporting both internally and externally a plus.
• Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with Power BI including knowledge of Power Bi Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Visualization and Design, DAX, Power Query, Publishing and Sharing, Power Apps integration, Security and Access control.
