The Analog Garage is ADI’s Research and Advanced Development Center in downtown Boston and empowers ADI by pioneering breakthrough technologies. The Deep Tech Solutions (DTS) group within the Analog Garage is applying leading-edge circuit design, device design, and nano-scale fabrication technologies to develop innovative solutions to big societal problems. 

Senior Bioelectronics Platforms Research Engineer 

The Deep Tech Solutions (DTS) group is seeking a motivated, experienced Senior Bioelectronic Platforms Research Engineer to join our team developing semiconductor solutions for big challenges in biology and human health.   The ideal candidate will lead development across one or more inter-related domains of expertise, including but not limited to microfluidics, biological assays, and electronic bio-systems.  As a core member of our team, Research Engineers develop specifications in collaboration with our biotechnology partners, propose and execute forward-thinking solutions using a range of available technologies, and test these solutions experimentally in the lab.  We are hiring in three separate tracks as described below. 

Responsibilities include one or more of the following:  

  • Microfluidics Track: Designing and experimentally verifying biochips using microfluidic technologies, which may include microfluidic channels, droplet microfluidics, digital microfluidics, surface coatings.  Developing imaginative multi-disciplinary microfluidic solutions for biological challenges. 

  • Biological assay Track: Implementing biological assays on mammalian cells in microfluidic chips for translational applications, which may include electrophysiology assays, cell proliferation assays, cell viability assays, and biochemical assays.  Owning and organizing the biological lab space, including equipment, consumables, reagents, and other tools. Proposing and executing creative multi-disciplinary solutions to biological challenges. 

  • Electronic Bio-systems Track: Develop innovative systems to experimentally exercise bioelectronic platforms in our lab and in the lab of our customers.  May include PCB design, rapid-prototype development, FPGA or microcontroller development, electronic lab equipment configuration and programming, and data analysis. Imaginatively interface the electronic and biological worlds with your creative bio-electronic solutions.
