About the JobAs a Senior Backend Engineer – Java at Aspire, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and microservices that power modern applications. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop RESTful APIs, ensure efficient data management, and support reliable deployments through collaboration with DevOps. Your expertise in backend development and distributed systems will be essential in delivering high-performance, secure, and maintainable solutions.
What You’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build robust and well-documented RESTful APIs following industry standards.
- Work with distributed systems and implement asynchronous messaging (e.g., Kafka).
- Optimize data persistence using relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Collaborate with DevOps and cloud teams to ensure secure and automated deployments.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and improve system design for scalability and resilience.
- Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and cross-functional technical discussions.
- Write unit and integration tests to maintain high code quality and performance.
- Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and implement performance improvements.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Gradle in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API design principles and best practices.
- Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous messaging solutions (e.g., Kafka).
- Proficiency in working with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL and/or NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Cassandra.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, version control (Git), and Agile methodologies.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and collaboration abilities in cross-functional teams.
- Awareness or knowledge of IT security best practices as defined by ISO/SOC or similar.
