Job Summary

The Global Procurement and Vendor Management Team (“P&VM”) is seeking a Data and Analytics Delivery professional to join our team. This role will report to the Business Management Team Leader and has a unique opportunity to recommend, guide, and manage the P&VM function data management, reporting and analysis needs. The Data and Analytics Specialist supports the internal P&VM team as well as business stakeholders in reporting and analyzing procurement spend and third-party vendor data.

This role will support the P&VM team by providing actionable insights, data analysis and reporting to optimize sourcing strategies, improve vendor performance and drive cost efficiencies. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in developing and implementing executive reporting and data driven decision making within the Procurement and Vendor Management function. As a Data and Analytics Specialist for Barings you must have a proven background in a dynamic data and reporting function, with experience in the financial services industry a plus.

Since you are part of a global team, you will need to actively cooperate with various stakeholders across our global footprint and navigate with ease in a transformational environment. You are expected to be detail orientated with a strong focus on quality and customer service. Accountable for the completion of assigned deliverables with little day-to-day management, you will demonstrate good judgement, an ability to influence/ guide junior colleagues and be able to complete work with minimal direction.

Primary Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Take ownership of procurement data and be able to draw conclusions to present the information in a concise and effective manner for leadership.
  • Serve as point person for all vendor related reporting including spend analysis, vendor performance metrics and market trends.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, scorecards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Support category managers with detailed spend analysis to support sourcing strategies and data-driven recommendations for monthly stakeholder reporting
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly executive level updates, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, together with actionable insights and opportunities.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand reporting requirements, drive continuous improvement and enhance business performance.
  • Support the Vendor Management Team with vendor risk and performance metrics, including scorecard evaluation, adherence to SLAs and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
  • Use data to identify opportunities to improve current P&VM processes including automation to streamline data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Act as primary team liaison with finance function.
  • Collaborate with team members on ad hoc projects.
  • Create and maintain a data library with reporting components from multiple data sources.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in data science, statistics/mathematics, computer science, business analytics or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience working with procurement or spend analysis tools (e.g. Ariba, Zip, Coupa etc.) an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analysis or reporting
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel (advanced), SQL, Python or R
  • Advanced usage of BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
  • Knowledge of data warehousing tools
