Purpose of the role
The Senior Associate is part of the Core Compliance team and reports to the Head of Core Compliance. The team carries out activities including control design and execution, managing regulatory reports and notifications, preparation of management information (MI) and training materials, and is responsible for policy adherence and assessment. The role is based in the London office.
Compliance in LCH Ltd
The Compliance department is organised into two teams, the Regulatory Advisors and Core Compliance, under the Chief Compliance Officer who reports into the CEO of LCH Ltd. There is a functional reporting line into the Group Chief Compliance Officer.
Compliance is responsible for ensuring that the business can operate and develop within regulatory framework. The function manages LCH’s relationships with its regulators. This includes overseeing compliance with reporting requirements; managing new licence and product applications; and conducting periodic assurance reviews of compliance with regulations.
The vision is to keep the firm aligned with best practice in terms of regulatory compliance. To do this we recruit and retain motivated, talented staff; deepen our relationships with regulators in all relevant jurisdictions; maintain a robust monitoring function to give senior management assurance about compliance with regulations and continually reassess our processes to innovate and find better ways of doing things.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure Compliance controls are designed and operating effectively to mitigate the regulatory risk and address the regulatory requirements. Play an active role in the development and implementation of the GRC and systems for compliance and risk management.
Ensure regulatory reports and notifications are submitted to the regulators in a timely manner, maintaining oversight of regulatory reporting and also maintain the regulatory reporting matrix.
Support the management of compliance policies and the policy governance across the Group, and to perform assessment to ensure policy adherence. In addition, maintain the Regulatory Reporting, Notification and Disclosure Policy.
Maintain the data retention schedule and ensure the records in the compliance team and properly retained/disposed according to the Group Policy.
Participate in annual regulatory assessments co-ordinated by the Regulatory Advisors to ensure compliance with our regulatory requirements.
Participate in the production of MI and the monitoring of regulatory developments.
Build relationships with the business and internal stakeholders.
Assist in compliance assurance reviews and/or ad hoc risk based reviews and help the business to devise and close out on corrective action plans. Identify policy breaches and provide appropriate reporting to management.
Maintain the training log, prepare training materials and deliver ad hoc compliance training on new initiatives as and when required.
What You'll bring:
Strong experience in a compliance, legal, audit, or post trade operational environment would be desirable
An understanding of the regulatory issues impacting market infrastructure or wholesale financial services
Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
Sound organisational and time management skills
Ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients effectively at all levels
Ability to take a risk-based lens to issues, think critically and ask difficult questions
Knowledge of regulations relating to Central Counterparty Clearing would be an advantage
