Overview
Our team is searching for a Senior Antenna and RF Engineering Lead to drive development activities for our vast portfolio of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and Communications antennas. In this role you will have the opportunity influence a wide variety of product designs and oversee development from requirements generation all the way through production support. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in the oceanside community of Torrance, CA. One of the best places to live in California with ocean beaches, plenty of parks and endless sunny days.
Responsibilities
As Senior Antenna and RF Engineering Lead, you will:
- Drive the design of new antenna products with emphasis in the following areas:
- Navigation (GPS/GNSS) antennas such as patch, stacked patch, and helical antennas.
- Antenna array design using patch antennas and novel antenna elements for beam steering and null steering applications.
- Communications antennas including multi-band patch, helical, monopole, dipole, and inverted-F antennas
- Act as team lead for the RF and antenna engineers, ensuring products are innovative, practical, and customer-focused.
- Lead development efforts with a broad scale, long-term view, assessing options and implications in the best interest of our customers and our company.
- Assess feasibility of new business opportunities, develop & author technical proposal responses, and provide cost and schedule input to the Engineering Manager.
- Lead and assist in the planning, testing, and documentation of product performance against project requirements and industry standards.
- Anticipate, manage and mitigate technical risks on projects and in existing product portfolio.
- Champion cross-team / intra-team collaboration and continuous improvement in our product designs and engineering practices.
- In collaboration with the Engineering Manager and Product Manager, define the technology and product roadmaps for the antenna product line.
- Contribute to the antenna portfolio strategy by identifying technology trends, staying up to date with emerging research, and ensuring antenna designs are aligned to strategic objectives.
- On an as needed basis, support sales, product management, quality and operations by addressing customer questions, completing feasibility studies, supporting customer calls, and troubleshooting issues.
- Technical accountability for the electrical design of all antenna products.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
- 7+ years of relevant work experience. Level of position commensurate with experience and expertise.
- Advanced understanding of electrical design, with a focus in antenna and/or RF design.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence others without direct authority.
- Experience leading, managing or mentoring engineers.
- A consistent track record of delivering successful products to market.
- Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic work environment with various concurrent projects and competing priorities.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
