About the role

Position Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Local to DMV area - 100% Remote
Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and providing key financial insights to support business decisions. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.Assist in the preparation of internal management reports and external regulatory reports.General Ledger Management:Oversee the general ledger accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.Maintain and update the chart of accounts as necessary.Accounts Payable and Receivable:Supervise the accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing.Manage the aging of receivables and payables and take appropriate actions to resolve discrepancies.Budgeting and Forecasting:Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis and explanations.Audit and Compliance:Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and provide necessary documentation and support.Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.Tax Compliance:Prepare and review tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax returns.Stay updated on tax regulations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws.Process Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.Team Leadership:Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
Qualifications:
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is strongly preferred.Experience:Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.Experience in public accounting or a large corporate environment is a plus.Skills and Competencies:Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).Advanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis tools.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
