About the role

Ameriprise Financial has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join
the team! This role supports accounting and controls for activity to the general
ledger from the insurance and annuity administrative systems. In this role, you
will establish and implement controls and procedures, as well as provide
accounting systems support to business partners and Finance groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily journal feed validation and journal entry processing

  • Prepare queries/reports for general ledger data

  • Research, identify, and design system and/or process changes necessary to resolve exceptions

  • Partner with business and technology groups to resolve and escalate issues

  • Support client recoveries

  • Provide accounting requirements for system improvements supporting transactional processing

  • Design test cases, perform user acceptance testing, and review test output


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and/or equivalent experience with accounting theory and concepts

  • 3+ years of accounting experience

  • Strong accounting conceptual skills

  • Strong knowledge of Excel

  • Self-motivated

  • Ability to multitask

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skill

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong curiosity about systems and systems design

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work with all levels of management and support staff

  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and to maintain strong working relationships with business partners.

  • Workday General Ledger

  • Insurance and Annuity Admin Systems experience

  • Annuity/insurance accounting knowledge

  • Investment accounting knowledge

  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Alteryx

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $69,900-$94,400/year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
