The Role
The Security Solutions Architect is a senior level position in Lumen’s Technology Architecture organization with responsibility for providing expert-level information security advisory and security architectural solution support for large, complex, and technologically difficult security solutions. This is a highly visible role with our Technology Architect Group requiring a security consultant mindset, ability to partner, and direct contact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. This role’s success requires having the ability to provide simplified security messaging, detailed understanding of operational delivery; superior stakeholder interaction skills; and a broad perspective on information security topics. Architects provide overall definition, direction, and strategic design for customer driven PSS solutions in collaboration with enterprise, state, local, and federal stakeholders. They operate in multiple theaters from: security operations and delivery activities to customer engagement, sales support, and solution shaping in order to achieve Lumen and customer business goals.
Location
Business needs require the person to reside within the Atlantic Region of the US. The professional in this position may work from home when not in client and team meetings.
The Main Responsibilities
- Provide security subject matter expertise, while transforming unclear business requirements into a clear, detailed, and documented security service solution.
- Understand the impact of security requirements on technical solutions and architectures.
- Guide and work with all the necessary security points of contact (internally and externally) to build consensus on chosen technical approaches and paths.
- Work directly with the Lumen teams to architect/create/package large complex solutions for customers while maintaining effective messaging throughout all phases of the lifecycle.
- Create standardized architectural diagrams, artifacts, presentation decks, business justifications, deliverables, statement of work, level of effort, pricing, and security solution collateral material.
- Ability to ingest lots of information rapidly to support quick decision making, while keeping stakeholders on track and adjusting to changing business dynamics.
- Perform other tasks as assigned to enable or achieve Lumen business goals or objectives.
- Demonstrates knowledge of end-to-end information security strategies, standards, processes, and tools necessary for security solution design.
- Demonstrates security advisory, thought leadership, and technical security competencies for customers, sales, operations teams and other security stakeholders.
- Understands and can articulate ‘Big Picture’ thought with the ability to clearly demonstrate how technical solutions achieve specific and measurable business goals and objectives.
- Leads, guides, shapes, delivers, effectively messages, and presents clear solution designs in partnership and support from security engineers, security solutions architects, technical writers, and other stakeholders.

What We Look For in a Candidate
- Ten plus years of experience as an information security professional.
- Deep experience leading security solutioning exercises and teasing out security requirements for traceability purposes.
- Solid understanding of security tasks and functions related to networking, Cloud, DevOps, and security platforms in highly complex corporate IT infrastructure environments.
- Working knowledge is expected in multiple security disciplines including: MEDR, Managed SIEM, SOC Services, SASE, Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, Security Strategy and Architecture consulting, Security Awareness and Training, Data Protection
- Able to successfully interact with audiences that may include senior executives, IT security leadership, and technical staff.
