WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Security Shift Manager is the leader of the Security team under his/her direction during their assigned shift. They are ultimately responsible for Security personnel, and well as individual and collaborative decisions made regarding the quality and delivery of all safety and security services for guests, patrons, visitors, staff and all parties on property. As such, the protection of human and physical assets must be the overriding priority.
This role requires a deep understanding of how to maximize the efforts of officers through training, scheduling, counseling, mentoring, rewarding and disciplining. The role also requires the proficient utilization of multiple platforms of data/intelligence and audio/visual resources, communication across all levels and departments, coordination of efforts with internal and external partners, maintaining and promoting a positive image and reputation for Dreamscape Rio Hotel & Casino, leading by example in every interaction, upholding the standards of the company in a leadership role, and assuring the company mission of providing the safest environment for everyone on property.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive results through leadership and from the accomplishments of your officers.
Produce schedules, determine necessary staffing adjustments, prepare for briefings, determine the day’s needs regarding events on property, collaborate with the previous shifts managers on events that occurred on the prior shift, prepare summary reports as required, confirm the status of pending reports, employee related incidents, in progress incidents, scheduled training or other matters that will affect the shift.
Coordinate/attend meetings with partner departments, leaders, contractors, vendors, first responders and upper-level administration as needed or requested.
Coordinate recurring training in briefing or designated training segments that fall outside of the Training Manager’s responsibilities.
Keep abreast of special events, conferences, conventions and coordinated gatherings on property in order determine staffing needs and coordinate the security posture accordingly.
Develop, lead and build a high-performing Security Team that focuses on department improvement, personal and professional growth and development, and ascension into management roles themselves.
Maintain fiscally responsible practices by balancing guest safety and staffing/labor costs.
Solicit input and feedback from officers and other managers on what is needed to field the best, most productive and efficient department possible, then act collaboratively to accomplish that reality.
Conduct investigations regarding employee misconduct and advise up in the chain of command with allegations, and investigative results. Coordinate these processes with Investigations and HR.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises subordinate managers, supervisors and officers on the shift.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum two years of consecutive experience in a management position at Las Vegas Strip hotel.
Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings.
Must be comfortable with interacting with the public in a casino environment, where noise, alcohol consumption, non-compliant, physically, and verbally abusive persons are sometimes present.
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
Ability to complete projects and assignments expediently, and with a quality product.
Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from team members at all levels, guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Strong attention to detail to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, not limited to those previously listed.
PREFERRED
Previous experience in a similar role.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to obtain a valid state Driver’s license.
Bike certifications and training will be necessary.
Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, gaming, and local regulations.
