Job Description

Typical Functions

         Devise policies and procedures regarding areas such as business continuity planning, loss prevention and fraud prevention, and privacy.

         Oversee and coordinate security efforts across Oklahoma History Center, including information technology, human resources, communications, legal, facilities management and other groups.

         Works closely with Research and Collections staff in emergency response and recovery.

        Identify security initiatives and standards.

         Create ID and access control badges for all staff and vendors

         Maintain key inventory and issues keys to staff

         Responsible for daily walkthroughs of building and security checks throughout the campus.

         Develop procedures to ensure the physical safety of employees and visitors.

         Monitors and maintains electronic security systems, including access control and video surveillance.

         Ensure security systems are maintained and updated on an as needed basis.

         Create workplace violence awareness and prevention programs.

         Prioritize security initiatives.

         Maintain relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement and other related government agencies.

         Develop and execute emergency procedures and incident responses.

         Investigate security breaches.

         Oversees and coordinates with fellow OHS and DPS staff stationed on site.

         Conduct audits to find holes in the security platform.

         Develop risk management assessments.

         Create global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security.

         Work with Maintenance and Events staff to provide access and security for after-hours events and special projects.

         Perform emergency and closing PA announcements.

         Be available for 24-hour emergency

         Assess and address a revolving transient population.

         Understanding of state laws, ordinances, and policies that specifically effect this site…

i.e. smoking policy, alcohol policy, leash law, service animal policy, etc..

         High emphasis on customer service i.e. greeting staff and visitors, giving directions, assisting reception and visitors, as needed, etc..

         Scheduling security for overtime events with DPS personnel

Education and Experience

  • 2 years Prior Security Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
