Job Description

Security Officer II - Part Time

Patrol and inspect buildings and immediate vicinity for security risks during the evening/night. Help enforce University security policies. Identify suspicious and criminal behavior and coordinate with BYU Police for resolution. Assist sworn officers upon request. Assist with security-related calls for service. Initiate coordination of emergency response. Monitor and run electronic and physical security systems. Provide SAFE WALKS for those who are feeling uncomfortable traversing Campus after dark

What you’ll do in this position:

• Patrol and inspect buildings
• Enforce University security policies
• Identify suspicious and criminal behavior and coordinate with BYU Police for resolution
• Assist sworn officers upon request
• Assist with security-related calls for service
• Initiate coordination of emergency response
• Monitor and run electronic and physical security systems

Schedule:

Flexible - must be willing to work a schedule that could include days, nights and occasional weekends

What qualifies you for this role:

Required:

• A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
• High School Diploma 

Preferred:

• Previous BYU Security Experience
• Skills in communication, de-escalation, interpersonal communication, emotional intelligence, and problem solving.

Pay Grade: 47

Typical Starting Pay: $18.50 - $23.25 /hour
