About the role

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB DUTIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Secure Storage Administrator evaluates system specifications, builds and configures enterprise computer systems, establishes standards, ensures hardware/software compatibility and maintains workstations and servers in a variety of networks and environments.

The Secure Storage Administrator will be responsible for the following functions/duties:

  • Builds and sustains a secure system utilizing mandatory, discretionary, and attribute-based access control.
  • Reviews performance of the system with the Storage Engineers, and configuration of the system with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and/or Information System Security Officer (ISSO).
  • Assists ISSM and ISSO with vulnerability management, access control, and all technical aspects of the security of the system.
  • Configures and maintains a SAN to ensure performance, reliability, and data confidentiality.
  • Performs the daily operational support on the computer Operating System to include system security, access control, configuration, backup and restore actions, as well as testing of the backup and restore capabilities and procedures.
  • Performs asset management of assigned equipment and provides hand receipts when equipment is issued to other users.
  • Serves as point of contact (POC) for problem reporting, plans system maintenance, and monitors equipment and software support contracts.
  • Makes recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements.
  • Maintains separate security domains for development, test/staging, and production environments.
  • Provides operational status, as required, to internal and customer stakeholders.
  • Uses established policies, procedures, and subject matter expertise to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity, performed with minimal supervision and with considerable latitude for independent contribution. Refines policies and procedures with guidance from the ISSM.
  • Analyzes system logs and identifies potential performance issues with computer systems, and reports anomalous user or system behavior to the ISSO and/or ISSM.
  • Manages and administers virtual machines, containers, and thick and thin client systems.
  • Documents system policies, procedures, and configurations for multiple audiences: other system administrators, cybersecurity, and users/operators. Gathers documents, logs, and other reports and artifacts for the ISSM/ISSO, as required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Substantial experience with administering Read Hat Enterprise Linux Servers and Workstations
  • Operational knowledge of the use of OpenShift for managing system images and containers
  • Experience operating in classified environments
  • CompTIA Security+ or other DoD 8140 Approved Cybersecurity Certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Proficiency in use of container engines (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman)
  • Proficiency in scripting/automation tools (BASH, PowerShell, Python, Ansible)

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

A bachelor’s degree in associated discipline from an accredited academic institution or equivalent experience through technical training, completion of a recognized certification program, or experience. Requires at least nine (9) years of experience in computer system related areas of expertise and must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in computer science, graphics, and information systems.

In addition, a Systems Administrator IV must possess the following qualifications:

  • Must have specific experience in the maintenance of Operating Systems and support applications, in a centralized and distributed server environment
