The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world.
The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking an Advanced Technologies Section Leader. The Section Leader is responsible for providing frontline management activities and leadership for a team of 10-15 engineers. These activities include technical oversight of programs, technical development of people, training, performance management and resource allocation.
The candidate will ensure two-way communication for section members; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the programs concerning employee job assignments and growth, performance and recognition. Responsibilities also include coordinating program staffing needs and outlooks and optimizing resource utilization. The Section Lead will team with the Department Manager in the execution of ME and Raytheon Technologies Engineering goals and design services and integrity across all program phases.
What You Will Do:
The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking a motivated Engineering Section Leader with experience in hardware development. In addition to program assignments, the Section Leader will work with the Department Manager and rest of the leadership team in the execution of Hardware and Raytheon goals.
Provide direct line management and leadership for 10-15 highly skilled mechanical engineers.
Served as the liaison to the programs and IPTs concerning staffing assignments, forecasting, and resource allocation.
Oversee technical performance of individual contributors and engineering leads. Provide technical guidance and project support throughout the product life cycle. Support and oversee Technical Data Package Development and peer reviews.
Responsible for employee technical development, leadership development, mentoring, motivating, training, and recognition.
Be an advocate for your team for their career development and performance goals.
Ensure Raytheon policies and procedures are adhered to
Conduct performance reviews and support recruitment and retention efforts.
Lead and support Department and Center initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
Oversee mid to large sized cross functional engineering teams as a technical execution lead through all phases of development from proposal generation, program start up, requirements allocation, preliminary design, detailed development, and first article production.
Engage in the performance development process for your team.
Meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
Be an advocate for their team to mentor, guide and grow lead engineers and junior engineers.
Management duties also include performance development and appraisal, salary planning, manpower planning, career coaching, and ensuring adherence to company policies.

Assist with proposal preparation including estimating the scope of new engineering projects.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
Prior leadership roles (frontline or project leader)
Five years direct experience in hardware engineering design, development and/or production support.
Active and transferable U.S. government
